Competitions

The following information is provided as a guideline for Skaters and Skate Families who are NEW to competitions. The Coach will provide more detailed information about what is expected before and at the competition prior to each competition.

Competitions are for all levels of skating.

• Fun Skate Competitions - skaters work on CanSkate skills. This event is done in a fun atmosphere, easing a skater into formal competitions.
• Formal Competitions - Star 1 - Gold level skaters (Junior & Star Skate level events)

Fees:

There are various fees associated with competitions which are not covered by the DSC. Below are some fees that you may incur by participating in the competition.

• Dress/ costume
• Music Editing
• Event registration fee which is paid directly by skater family to the host Club. Competition fees are approximately $100.
• Hotel or accommodation expense, depending upon location of the event.
• Coaching fees are split evenly between the total number of skaters who attend the competition. Coaching fees entail mileage, food, coaching time, hotel (if applicable). It is hard to estimate what the coaching fees will be until we know how many skaters are attending.
