What is Jumpstart?
The Jumpstart program is a fast tracked introductory to figure skating program for skaters who have been identified out of the CanSkate Program. This program is a two day a week program from 3:30-4:15 Tuesdays and Thursdays for the 2024/2025 season. Skaters are taught in a smaller group setting by Skate Canada Certified coaches. This program is a dynamic program that creates strong fundamentals for a base of figure skating while creating a fun and enthusiastic environment.
Jumpstart skaters will partake in annual club events like Christmas Spectacular and Year end Carnival. Skaters will also be eligible for local and travel competitions if they are interested. Families are required to support the Club with one volunteer shift per season (3-4 hour time commitment) and 30 fundraising points (unless your skater starts in January, then you will only be required to earn 15 fundraising points). Fundraising points can be earned in a variety of different ways and you will be emailed more information throughout the season.
Equipment required:
- Skaters must wear fitted warm clothing, gloves and a helmet without a cage. Bulky hoodies and winter jackets are not permitted. No hoods and no jeans please.
- Hard guards to protect blades while walking off the ice .
- Hair should be neatly pulled back out of the face under the helmet.
* Proper equipment can be purchases at United Cycle by mentioning an introductory to figure skating program
